Updates to the Qualifying Conditions for the NJ Medical Marijuana Program: reported as of 3/28/2018

ANNOUNCEMENT: The New Jersey Medical Marijuana Program has just added 5 new categories of qualifying conditions:

  • Anxiety
  • Migraine
  • Chronic Pain related to Musculoskeletal Disorders
  • Chronic Pain of visceral origin &
  • Tourette’s Syndrome

PATIENTS STILL REQUIRE MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION WITH DIAGNOSIS SUCH AS A PRESCRIPTION , LETTER FROM PHYSICIAN WITH DIAGNOSIS OR LAB REPORT

The Main qualifying conditions of the NJMMP are shown below (additional condition categories above also now eligible as well!)

  • One of the following conditions, if resistant and or non-responsive to conventional medical therapy: seizure disorder, including epilepsy; Pain due to intractable skeletal muscular spasticity; or glaucoma;
  • One of the following conditions, if severe or chronic pain, severe nausea or vomiting, cachexia, or wasting syndrome results from the condition or treatment thereof: positive status for human immunodeficiency virus, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or cancer;
  • amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, terminal cancer, muscular dystrophy, or inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease;
  • terminal illness, if the physician has determined a prognosis of less than 12 months of life; or
  • any other medical condition or it’s treatment that is approved by the Department of Health and Senior Services by regulation
